⚠ Important caveats — true cost to the organisation is higher
Gross salary only. Figures are based on gross (pre-tax) pay. Net take-home pay is lower, but the cost to the employer is calculated on the gross figure.
Employer pension contributions not included. NHS Pension Scheme employer contributions are currently ~23.7% of pensionable pay on top of gross salary — a substantial additional cost per attendee.
Employer National Insurance not included. Employers pay Class 1 NI contributions (13.8% above the secondary threshold) on top of gross salary, adding further cost.
On-costs vary. Combined employer pension + NI contributions typically add 35–40% to the gross salary cost. The true all-in employment cost per hour is therefore materially higher than the figures shown.
Hours assumption. Rates use 1,950 hours/year (37.5 hrs/week × 52 weeks). This does not deduct annual leave, bank holidays, or training/CPD time, so the effective cost per productive hour is also higher.
Room and overhead costs not included. Venue hire, AV equipment, travel, and organisational overhead are not accounted for.
These figures are intended as a minimum indicative cost to prompt awareness of meeting value, not a precise financial accounting.
